With over 30 years of experience in health economics and health technology assessment (HTA), Professor Chris McCabe is a leading authority in evaluating the value of medical innovations. As the CEO of Birota Economics Group, he specializes in providing early-stage economic insights to life sciences companies, guiding them through the complexities of market access and reimbursement landscapes. 

In his academic role at Queen’s University Belfast, Professor McCabe holds a joint appointment between the Queen’s Business School and the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. His research focuses on developing methodologies for economic evaluation and HTA, contributing to national and international standards in the assessment of innovative health technologies.   

Professor McCabe’s extensive experience includes serving as the CEO of the Institute of Health Economics in Alberta, Canada, where he expanded the organization’s capacity in health economics and launched new industry partnership programs.
